Christine Schwiebert Witte Meyer

Christine Schwiebert married Alfred Witte, who was born November 23, 1907, in Marion Twp. He was the son of Ernest and Christine nee Heinrichs Witte. They had three sons. Ronald, born July 16, 1931; Louis, born July 29, 1933; and Morris, born January 30, 1937. They lived on the Witte Homestead with Alfred's father, Mr. Ernest Witte and were engaged in farming.

They were members of Hope Lutheran Church. The children attended the one-room country school about 1/2 mile east of their home for a few years and then the Marion Township High School from which all three boys graduated.

In November, 1940, Alfred became seriously ill and had to be taken to the hospital in Toledo for surgery. They discovered he had peritonitis. The doctors tried various kinds of medication and treatments but he kept getting increasingly worse and on December 16, 1940, he was called to his Eternal Home at the age of 33 years. While he was in the hospital his wife Christine and two of his nieces had to have emergency appendectomies.

Christine and the boys continued to live on the farm with Alfred's father until she married Martin Meyer, son of Herman and Lenna nee Witte Meyer, on January 6, 1942. Martin had lost his wife several years before. Christine and her three sons and Martin and his six children lived on the Meyer farm. All the children went to Marion Twp. High School.

On April 23, 1960, Martin died very suddenly of a heart attack.

Christine is still living on the Meyer farm with Walden (Pete) Meyer who, in partnership with Morris Witte, is in the farming and steer raising business. Christine keeps busy visiting her family of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is still a member of Hope Lutheran Church and Women of the Church. Her hobbies are sewing, crocheting, and bowling.

Besides Morris Witte and Walden "Pete" Meyer, the rest of their family includes: Olga Meyer Revill, Maumee; Louise Meyer Drewes, Marion Twp.; Rev. Herbert Meyer, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Ruth Meyer Geiger, North Manchester, Ind.; Ronald Witte, Detroit, Mich.; Arlene Meyer Dahl, Bryan, Ohio; Louis Witte, Edgerton, Ohio.
