Carl F. Loitz (1850-1932) and Albertina W. Aderman (1854-1919) were both born and married in Germany and immigrated to the United States. After a six weeks ocean voyage they arrived, via the B.&0. R.R. in Defiance County, Ohio, where they resided for about a year before moving to Napoleon Township, Henry County, Ohio. They farmed the Haley farm (where the St. Paul's Lutheran Church is located on Glenwood Ave.) and later farmed the Vocke farm (now a part of Campbell Soup Co.), before retiring and moving to their residence on Reynolds St., Napoleon, Ohio. Carl F. Loitz became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. in 1888. Their children were: Charles F. Loitz, Shelton, Washington (1880-1963); Herman J. Loitz, Akron, Ohio (1885-1950); Anna Loitz (Charles Sommer), Toledo, Ohio (1887-1946); Marie Loitz (Clarence N. Rettig), Napoleon, Ohio (1890-1969); George F. Loitz, Ft. Snelling, Minnesota (18921937); Frank H. Loitz, Van Nuys, California (1893-1927).
