Leona Lang and Dorothy Huffman, sisters, reside on the Biggins farm five miles from Liberty Center, and Grand Rapids, on County Road S 3. The farm has been in the Biggins family since 1845. Leona and Dorothy purchased the farm from the estate of their mother in 1973.
The sisters received an Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Century Farm Citation in Columbus, Ohio, in June, 1976. They attended the banquet and pro- gram at the Ohio State Fair. In August, 1976, they were recognized as one of the families owning a farm for one hundred or more years, and still retaining ownership in the family, at the Henry County Fair.
During the summer of 1977, they sent their name and farm history to the Ohio Historical Society, in Columbus, Ohio, and were accepted to the Historic Ohio Homestead list of farms and received a certificate and plaque showing that they belonged to the list. They were the only farm from Henry County that made the list, and the sisters are very proud of belonging to that select group of families.
Their brother, Howard Biggins, Grand Rapids, farms the homestead and is the fourth generation to farm the homestead place.
