Carl moved to Napoleon in August of 1927 with his wife and two sons, Edwin and Donald. The following year, a daughter, Della May, was born to them.
Carl Ingle was born in Wood County, January 3, 1893, the son of Ervin and Anna Ingle. After living some years in Paulding County, the family moved to a farm near Bryan, Ohio. Carl attended Ohio Northern University where he received a degree in civil engineering in 1918. He served eighteen months in the 23rd Engineers, Co Company D., during World War I. Part of this time he served in France.
He married Marian M. Stenger, daughter of Edwin and Odella May Stenger, of Center Township, Williams County, on September 25, 1921. He worked as deputy county engineer in Williams County, spent a year and a half working for the Kentucky Utili ties Company at Pineville, Kentucky, worked in Defiance and Mansfield, Ohio before coming to Napoleon, Ohio. He worked for the State Highway Department through the 1930's until he was elected County Engineer in 1940. He served in that post until 1946 when he returned to the State Highway Department as maintenance engineer of Division 2. He retired from that position in 1959 and served as a consulting engineer for the city of Napoleon until 1974.
Carl was a former District Deputy Grand Master and Noble Grand of the Oddfellows Lodge, and a past commander of the American Legion post in Napoleon. He was instrumental in forming a group of World War I veterans Association here. He was a member of the Harrison Grange and the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Napoleon.
His wife, Marian, was also active in the Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary, holding various offices in each. She preceded him in death in July, 1951. Carl married Irene Wells Trone in 1959. She survived him by six months.
The oldest son, Edwin Ingle, graduated from Ohio Northern in Civil Engineering in 1946, and is presently employed by Libby Owens Ford, in the technical department, at Toledo, Ohio. Donald Ingle also has a degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio Northern University. He is employed by Gulf Oil Corporation and is now at Atlanta, Georgia. Odella May Ingle graduated from Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She worked as a registered nurse at Toledo Hospital, Cincinnati General Hospital and in Public Health until her marriage to George M. Leow in 1952. They reside in Toledo. Edwin married Norma Lee Riggs, oldest daughter of LeRoy and Hazel Riggs, of Henry County. Norma Lee passed away in March, 1961. Edwin later married Anna Mae Baker of Streeter, Illinois. Donald married Joan Hoeffel in May, 1948. She is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Hoeffel of Napoleon, Ohio.
