Elon Hackett

Elon Hackett was a dulcimer maker. He also had five sons that served during the Civil War in the Union Army.

Elon was born in Maine on October 14, 1804, the son of Joseph and Sally Hackett.

He married on March 1, 1825, in New York state, Mary Bowlby, daughter of James and Catharine Bowlby, who was born on February 12, 1807 in New Jersey.

Elon and Mary Hackett had eleven children: Aaron, Jonathon, James M., Julia C., Joseph W., Ransom K., Sarah S., Lewis V., Ann E., Byron E., and another child named for their first Ann E., that also died as an infant.
