Emil D. Graf and Edna Adell Condon were married in a log cabin on February 14, 1894, the home of her parents Patrick and Hulda Disher Condon. The farm was located on the Hartzfeldt Road near what was then known as Bailey, 0.
They went to farming on a small farm near Waterville, Ohio. After three years they moved to Fitzgerald, Ga. They had two children at this time, Raymond and Eva. One year later they moved back to Ohio almost penniless and glad to be back among their friends. They lived and farmed on rented farms in Lucas County and Henry County on the north side of the Maumee River. In 1907 the farm where they lived until death was purchased from Mr. Crosby. It is located in Damascus Twp., Henry County, on the north side of County Rd. Q. In 19111912 10 acres of woods were cleared and the lumber used to build a new barn. In 1919 a new five bedroom house was built; by this time there were six children, three boys and three girls. The children walked one and a half miles to a school on the Deshler Road known as Beech Grove School and sometimes called Bacon School. Some of the teachers were: Herman Romaker, Jessie Bell, Nellie Farison, Otto F. Miller, and Gladys Mowery. The school was consolidated with Grand Rapids School in 1915 where all of the children graduated except Raymond who graduated from McClure School in 1913.
Sometime in the 20's they purchased 40 acres known as the Hemmelkamp farm on the south side of County Rd. Q.
As children we attended Christian Union Church and later the Methodist Church in Grand Rapids.
Edna Adele Graf died May 3, 1952. Emil D. Graf died May 27, 1961. All of the children are living as of June 15, 1975.
