Benjamin F. Gibson and wife, Lydia (Swihart) Gibson, came to Henry County from near Carey, and bought a farm south of Hamler in the 1860's.
Their first home was a log house. Later they built a frame house which stands on its present location.
To this union were born two sons: Grant and LeRoy, and four daughters, Jemina, Ida, Cinda and Huldah.
On May 31, 1894, LeRoy married Hettie Iona (Butler) Gibson and started housekeeping on a farm in Putnam County. A daughter, Bernice, was born Nov. 1, 1895, and son Josie, born Oct. 13, 1903.
Following the death of LeRoy's parents, he bought the home place and moved to it. A daughter, Mildred, was born there Jan. 29, 1907, and a son, Russell, was born July 3, 1910.
The children attended the Bishop School in Marion Township. The family attended the Zion Church of God south of Hamler.
Following the death of Russell's parents, he bought the home farm in Sept. of 1953. In March, 1968, Russell died. His widow, Frances (Heyman) Gibson, now owns the Gibson home.
