Philo Sturdevant, a widower with three small children, William, Lewis, and Jane, married a widow, Leucretia Shaw, who had a baby daughter, Mary. Philo and Leucretia had Eunice, Lavina, Martha and Warren.
Martha Sturdevant married Truman Babcock. Their children were Orley, Annie, Dora, Gertie who died as an infant, Addie, Zelda and Arthur. After the death of Truman, Martha Sturdevant Babcock married Lyman Benskin and they lived on her farm in Harrison Township, across from the Hoy Cemetery, for several years, then moved to Napoleon where they lived the rest of their lives. Lyman Benskin also had a daughter, Ruby Benskin.
Ruby married Ralph Young and had a son, Ralph Young. After Ralph's death, she married Fred Creager and had a son, Bruce Creager. Ruby lives in Liberty Center during the summer months and in Florida during the winter months.
Dora Babcock married Carl Wiles and their children were Orlo and Laura, both live in Napoleon. Orley married Clara Glore and had two sons, Aiden who is deceased, and Lorin who lives in Indiana. After Clara's death, Orley married Sadie Rex. They reside on a farm on State Route 24, between Napoleon and Liberty Center.
Anna married Cloyd Garverick, both are deceased, and had seven children: Fletcher, Romona, Burdette who is deceased, Gale, Lucille, Martha and LeRoy. Fletcher lives in Florida, and LeRoy lives in California, and the rest li ve in and around Lambertville, Michigan.
Zelda Babcock married Paul Clymer, and they had a daughter, Frieda, later married Loyal Stites, they had a son Arthur Lynn. She is now married to Frank Surredge, and lives in Bradenton, Florida.
Arthur Babcock married Pauline Henricks, and their daughters were Lila Lee, Lynda, Sharon and Diane.
The Babcocks live on a farm near Florida, Ohio, and spend the winters in the state of Florida.
Addie Babcock married Edward Ellinwood. Their children were Naida, Donelda, and Darlynd. All three attended and graduated from Liberty Center High School. Naida married Russell Hefflinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hefflinger. They have lived on the same farm for forty-one years. Russell is superintendent of highways for Henry County, and is a part time farmer. Naida works for the Liberty Press newspaper, in Liberty Center, Ohio. They have two children, Connie L. and Ronnie. Both graduated from Liberty Center High School, and the whole family are members of Sharon United Methodist Church.
Connie Lee married Allan Hess, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hess, Wauseon, Ohio. Their children are Jackie aged fourteen years, and Janna aged ten years. Connie attended the Toledo Academy of Beauty Culture and operates her own beauty shop in Wauseon. Allan is employed by the Bank of Fulton County.
Ronnie attended Andrew Barber College, Toledo, Ohio, and operated his own shop before going into sales work. He is a part time farmer also. He married Cinda Creager, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Creager, Napoleon, Ohio. She graduated from Liberty Center High School and business school and is a secretary at Campbell Soup Company, Napoleon. Their children are Curt aged thirteen years, and Kristi aged ten years. The family lives in the country near Liberty Center and the children attend Liberty Center school.
Donelda attended Warner Beauty College in Toledo, Ohio. She married Dr. Richard Overmier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Overmier, Liberty Center. Richard is a graduate of Liberty
Center High School, Bowling Green State University, and Ohio State University, and is a dentist in Napoleon, Ohio. Donelda operated her own beauty shop for several years, but now assists her husband in the office. They have two sons. Gary, also a graduate of Ohio State University, is an Agricultural Economist, employed by Soil Conservation in Columbus. Randy is a senior at Toledo University. Both graduated from Napoleon High School. The family are all members of St. Paul Methodist Church, Napoleon, Ohio.
Darlynd is engaged in farming. He married Karen Sayles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sayles, Wyoming. Karen attended college in Wyoming, and at Bowling Green State University. They have two sons, Darrel, a senior, Dan, a junior, and i daughter, Shelly, in the seventh grade, and all attend Liberty Center schools. The family lives on their farm, just north of Colton. They are members of St. John's Episcopal Church, Napoleon, Ohio.
