Irene Janet Eicher, daughter of William and Mabel (Roth) Eicher was born in the brick house on the C. D. Roth farm on September 5, 1922. She attended, and graduated from, Ridgeville Rural School.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fortier
She met her future husband while working at the Toledo Scale Company in Toledo, Ohio. She and Paul Fortier were married on December 23, 1945, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio.
After several years' residence in New Hampshire (where Paul was born and raised) they came to Ridgeville Township and reside at the old Roth farm one mile north of Ridgeville.
Irene has taught piano and organ to the children of the area for many years, and is the church organist for St. Peter Church. Paul is employed as a mechanic at the Campbell Soup Company in Napoleon.
The Fortiers had four children, three sons and one daughter. Douglas, the oldest, lives and attends college in California. Bruce married Marilyn Henry, daughter of John and Leona Rathge Henry and has a son, David, and daughter, Deanne. Marilyn Kay married Wilbur Sonnenberg and lives in Napoleon. William married Judy Plassman, the daughter of Edgar and Marie Kruse Plassman, and has a daughter Nichole.
