John Wesley Foor, the son of John David and Samantha Jane Foor, was born November 14, 1856 in Harrison Township, Henry County, Ohio. His parents came to their small farm in Harrison Township from Pennsylvania in the early 1800's. He was one of three children.
James Foor, the eldest, lived most of his life in Toledo, Ohio.
Jane (Foor) Walker lived all her life across from the Randall Hill School, about a half mile from her parents, and raised her family in Harrison Township.
John Wesley Foor, married May C. Myers on August 6, 1877 (Page 328, Vol. I) and to this union three children, were born: Metta Foor, born September 13, 1878, who married James D. Good; Arkie Foor, born November 17, 1881, who married Iva Huff and Nina Foor who married Elgy Seibold.
About 1884, before the youngest child, Nina, was born, John Wesley Foor and his cousin, Henry Fellers, decided to take a trip west. So by train they took their families and went as far as Kansas. There they lived in a sod house on the plains of Kansas. They endured many hardships, one of which was the dust storms. They tried to farm but the dust storms were so severe that most of the crops were destroyed. After living there a little over a year they decided to go farther west. This part of their journey was made in a covered wagon. According to the daughter, Metta, this was a very hard journey for her mother. They settled near a small town just over the border in Colorado, where the men did various jobs to provide for their families. After living in Colorado nearly a year, Mr. Foor decided to return to the old homestead in Harrison Township, Henry County, Ohio, which, after their journey west, looked very good to them. There they continued farming and caring for Mr. Foor's parents. In the late 1920's he and Mrs. Foor moved to a 20 acre farm at the corner of U.S. 6 and the then Damascus and Harrison Co. Line Roads. On this farm John Wesley Foor raised vegetables and berries and continued to do this until his death on January 21, 1943. His wife, May C. (Myers) Foor, preceded him in death on October -16, 1938.
