Harman Babcock, son of John and Clara (Crockett) Babcock married my mother Lois A. Woodring on October 1, 1927. Her parents were Lew and Rosa (Lutton) Woodring, and they lived in Delta. Their ancestors came from Germany and Ireland.
Harmon and Lois started housekeeping in Malinta, then lived on rented farms and managed these. Three children were born to them: Richard, October 18, 1934; Carole, February 4, 1936; and Bernard, October 21, 1939. They lived in Toledo, around four years till 1945 and then bought the Love farm two miles west of McClure. Dad worked as a machinist while living in Toledo and McClure. In 1960, he bought a grocery store in Texas, Ohio, and operated this till his death on April 25, 1965, at the age of sixty. He really loved to fish and every year at vacation time you would find our family camped along the Maumee River west of Mary Jane Thurston Park. Mom lives in McClure on Reed Street. She belongs to several clubs and is amember of the United Methodist Church. She spends her time working, gardening, and crocheting.
My brother Richard Babcock married Sharon Branthoover, daughter of Victor and Mildred Branthoover of Miami, Florida, on January 4, 1958. They reside at 830 Clairmont Street, Napoleon, Ohio, and have three children: Steven, born on June 17, 1960, Terri, born on October 3, 1963, Scott, born on June 6, 1965.
My brother Bernard Babcock married Annette Turner, daughter of Carlos and Mary Turner of Zellwood, Florida, on April 19, 1958. They live 11/2 miles south of McClure on Rt. 65. Their children are: Timothy, born on September 26, 1959; Gina, born on May 8, 1962; and Christi, born on February 11, 1969.
I, (Carole) married Robert Brown, September 30, 1954, in the United Brethren Church in McClure. We started housekeeping at 345 Frank Street and lived there till August of 1967 when we moved to the Mollet property on Reed Street. This property was quite run down and we worked on the house two years before we moved in. We have four children: Jacklyn, born on June 26, 1956; Rex born on August 10, 1957; Johnny, born on August 15, 1960; and Jocelyn, born on January 29, 1966. Jacklyn graduated in 1974 and Rex in 1975 from Napoleon High School. Johnny is a freshman at Napoleon High and Jocelyn is a thirdgrader at McClure Elementary. I attended school at Damascus Township High School and graduated in a class of fifteen pupils in 1954. I am a member of the United Methodist Church, McClure and belong to the H.O.M.E. Society of Napoleon and McClure Volunteer Fireladies.
