Erford Family

Peter Erford

In about 1820, Peter Erford was born in Bavaria. He migrated to the United States in about 1840 and settled near New Riegel, Ohio. Catherine Wagner was born in Luxemburg and migrated to the United States also. She settled with her family near Frenchtown which was a French settlement near the German settlement of New Riegel.

The two were married and bought a farm near Frenchtown. There they raised 8 children: John, Susan, Nicholas, Peter, Isadore, Margaret, Henry, and Lucy.

John moved to the state of Washington. Susan married Francis Guillian and lived in Hamler of Henry County. Nicholas married Catherine Klaus and moved to Hamler on a wooded farm in the late 1880's. Peter moved to Toledo. Isadore lived in Tiffin. Margaret married Joe Zender and lived in Tiffin. Henry married Josephine Klaus at New Riegel, Ohio, and started his family.
