The Eicher line in Henry County traces back to Anna Eicher who came to Fulton County, Ohio, from France with her only son, Joseph, in 1854. Anna died in 1891 and is buried in Lauber Hill Cemetery near Archbold, Ohio. Her birthplace was in Switzerland.
Joseph H. Eicher, born January 1, 1837, in Alsace, France, married Catharine Zimmerman in 1857. She had been born in Alsace.
Their son, John Eicher, was born June 20, 1860, in Fulton County. On February 13, 1884, he married Ida Ona Miller, the daughter of Ambrose and Teresa Snyder Miller who were born in Bavaria, Germany. Ida was born in Fulton County, Ohio, on September 1, 1864. John and Ida had seven children.
William Benjamin Eicher was born November 18, 1897, and married Mabel Roth on December 14, 1921. Mabel was the oldest child of Henry L. and Bertha Reinke Roth and was born on December 31, 1902, in Ridgeville Township, Henry County, Ohio. The William and Mabel Roth children are Irene Eicher Fortier and Wayne Arthur Eicher. William is a retired farmer. The Eichers are members of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ridgeville Corners. They reside 1 mile north of Ridgeville.
A brother, Albert Eicher, married Dola Rowe and had two sons: Roger who married Carol Dimon and lives at Lindsey, Ohio; and Chester who lives in Jackson, Michigan. Mrs. Dola Eicher lives in Ridgeville Corners. Albert died in 1964 and is buried in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
