George Washington Edwards was the oldest child of Samuel and Mary Aultman Edwards. He was born at Circleville, Ohio, on June 22, 1835. On Mary 4, 1854, in Henry County, he married Eliza, or Epsey, Hill, who was born in Perry County, Ohio, on February 2, 1835. She was the daughter of Michael and Sarah Bost Hill. Eliza died on February 7, 1907.
George laid out one of the paper villages of Henry County. He laid out Edwardsville but the village never became a reality. In 1877, the family moved to Holgate, Ohio.
Children born to George and Epsey Hill Edwards were Mary F., Michael Leroy, Rosetta, Urban F., Lavina R., and Sarah E. died at the age of three years.
Leroy M. Edwards was born on December 11, 1860 and died on December 16, 1946. He married Myrtle Victoria Merchant. Leroy was once mayor of Holgate. The children of Leroy and Mertie were Dr. Merrill M. Edwards, Walter M. Edwards, and Arluta Edwards Silcox. She had sons, Paul and Donald Silcox.
