David Edwards was born in 1797, in Virginia, now West Virginia. He died in Henry County, Ohio in 1872. He married Cynthia Ann Meek in 1824. Cynthia was born in 1804, either in Virginia, or Clark County, Ohio.
David and Cynthia Edwards came to Henry County, Ohio in 1834/35 having purchased land in Washington Township in 1832.
The biography of Alexander David Edwards, born 1826, son of Clark County, Ohio, a son of David and Cynthia Meek Edwards, states that he died on February 27, 1875 and is buried in the Texas, Ohio Cemetery. Alexander married on October 22, 1861, at Texas, Ohio, Emilene C. Clark who was born in 1841, in Hancock County, Ohio, and was the daughter of L.T. and Mary Clark. L.T. Clark was born in Connecticut, and Mary was born in Pennsylvania.
Alexander David, or as he wished to be known, David, served in Company F. 14th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War.
Alexander David and Emilene Edwards had four children: Annie E., born October 15, 1871; Mary, born September 24, 1872, and two brothers, Robert and David Edwards.
Sanford Edwards, son of David and Cynthia Meek Edwards, was born about 1845, and died before June, 1875. He was married on December 1, 1866 to Louisa Anderson. Their children were Forrest Edwards, born October 9, 1867, and Lula Edwards born September 27, 1869.
Martha A. Edwards was born on April 1, 1836, in Washington Township, and was the first white child born in that township. Her history is included in the Showman history in this book.
