John Eckhart was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, from Pennsylvania. He and his wife Elizabeth were residents of Fairfield County, Ohio, in 1806.
The Eckhart family came from Pennsylvania with a covered wagon drawn by oxen. The 1820 Census for Pickaway County, Ohio list the families of Motter, Ditto, LaBar, Harmon, and Eckhart. These families all had descendants that came to Henry County to live permanently.
Lewis Eckhart came to Fulton County, Ohio, in 1834. His brother, Samuel purchased land in 1834, his sister, Elizabeth Eckhart Ditto and husband purchased land in the same month. It is thought that they came together from Seneca County sharing the wagons and oxen.
