Mary was born on December 10, 1885, and married Edward Drewes on August 30, 1906. They lived in Hamler and later moved to her mother's farm in Marion Township. In 1923, they moved by horse and wagon, a distance of about twenty-one miles to Freedom Township. They purchased a farm in Richfield Township, near Malinta, in 1936. Later they sold this farm and bought a farm from George Panning, in Monroe Township, on State Route 18, between Hamler and Holgate, where they lived until the death of Mr. Drewes on November 17, 1957, at the age of seventy-one years. Mary lived, after this, in Hamler and Napoleon until her death on October 7, 1972.
They had four daughters and one son. Amanda married Fred Mueller and one daughter, Marlene, was born to them. Marlene Behfeldt lives in Defiance County. Olga, of Napoleon, Ohio, married August Schwiebert. They have one daughter, Elaine Meyer. Norma, of Toledo, married Donald DeMars, and has two daughters, Cynthia Toland and Cilia Egan. Florence, of Deshler, married Henry Seedorf. They have six daughters and twin sons. Brenda Rosebrook, Mary Hoops, Lisa Hoops, Anita, Ann Marie, Matthew, and Mark and Katherine, who died in infancy.
