C.H. Dittmer was born in Oster- burg, Germany in 1839. He came to the United States of America in 1853 and settled in Ridgeville Township. He moved to Defiance County in 1854. In 1859, he purchased a farm a little over a mile west of Ridgeville Corners. C.H.
Dittmer married Louisa Lindau in 1863.
The Dittmer's had two sons and one daughter. They were members of the Lutheran church and are buried in the church cemetery west of Ridgeville.
C.H. Dittmer was a constable, a trustee, a school director, and a township trustee. In 1893 he was elected Henry County Infirmary Director, and was re-elected to that office. He died in May, 1896.
John Dittmer, son Christ Dittmer, married Louisa Grate in January, 1895, at Fort Wayne, Indiana. His brother, Herman, was one of the attendants. They had a sister, Mary.
Christ H. Dittmer was the son of Charles Dittmer. Charles died in Monroe Township in 1861, at the age of sixty-eight years. His wife and three children survived him.
William Dittmer and his wife were parents of twins born in November, 1895. One lived just a few days.
