The Joseph Dibling family came to the U.S. from Alsace-Lorraine on the French-German border when he was a young man. They settled on a farm 11/2 miles southeast of Hamler, Ohio, on Section 14. He worked in the stave mill in Hamler for a time. He married Anna Blust in 1896. To this union three children were born. His wife, Anna, died in 1900. Two children died shortly after their mother. The surviving child, Margaret, became a Sister of the Sister of Mercy order in 1915. In 1904, Joseph married Magdelena Blust, and to this union ten children were born. Rudolph, the eldest son, married Virginia Mullett. He is a retired Sylvania television worker in Ottawa. Rose married Philip Cavanaugh and they live on his home place. Julie became a member of the Sisters of Mercy in 1927. Frances, a graduate nurse, married Dr. Casimer Czarnecki. She is deceased. Edward married Kathryn Britenriker and he farmed at home until his death in 1955. Marie, a graduate nurse, married Clement Newton and she is deceased. Gertrude married Fred Britenriker. She is a nurse's aid in Columbia Convalescent Home in Lima. Joseph Jr., a World War II veteran, married Helen Wensink. He is a state highway employee at Bowling Green. Agnes, a practical nurse, married Cletus Feehan and she is deceased. Norbert lives on the home place. He is an employee of the Buckeye Sugar Plant in Ottawa. The Joseph Dibling family were members of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Hamler and belonged to the Democratic party.
