Silas Davis, father of Eugene Davis, was born in West Virginia in 1836. He married Mary Davis, a daughter of Allen Davis. Allen Davis had married a lady of German parentage and was a toll keeper on the old Wheeling National Turnpike. He married twice and 'daughter, Mary David, was a child of the first marriage. Silas was the son of Albert Davis, a native Virginian who was a farmer. Mary Davis died in December 1911, at the age seventy-three years.
The children of Silas and Mary Davis were Harry, Lucy, Mary, Wilma, Julia, and Eugene L. Davis. Eugene was the only one that came to Henry County, Ohio.
Eugene L. Davis was born near
Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia, on December 13, 1873. He came to Henry County, Napoleon Township, in 1912. In 1916, he moved to Bartlow Township, near Deshler, Ohio.
Eugene married Edna Slocum, daughter of John and Margaret Bailey Slocum, of Illinois. She was born in Peoria County, Illinois, in 1878. Eugene and Edna had Carl, who died as a small child; and Evelyn Pauline, born on July 5, 1909.
