Left to right: Barbara Jean Corwin, daughter; Maisie C. Corwin, mother; William Lewis "Billy" Donnett, son; Clarence "Markey" Corwin, father; John Lee "Johnny" Donnett, son; Tony Eugene Corwin, son. Taken in the summer of 1954.
Maisie Hefflinger, daughter of William and Margaret Hefflinger, married Goodno Donnett on June 30, 1934, at Wheeling, West Virginia, and to this union two boys were born: William Lewis on July 24, 1935, and John Lee on July 2, 1940.
The family always made their home with her father William. After a few years Goodno went back to Belmont County, Ohio, and they separated.
On July 4, 1942, Maisie remarried Clarence Corwin of Liberty Center, Ohio. They were married in Neosho, Missouri.
The family still lived with Maisie's father as Clarence was in the service and spent 44 months in the Army in World War II.
Clarence returned home from Germany in November, 1945, and got a job in a factory in Napoleon, Ohio, and a little while later started to farm.
To this union were born: Barbara Jean on December 20, 1943, and Tony Eugene on July 13, 1951.
In 1947, Dad William passed away on March 23.
Clarence and the boys did the farming and they all worked out besides. When the boys were small they did odd jobs such as mowing lawns, picking tomatoes, strawberries, planting Christmas trees and trimming them, and other odd jobs. As they grew older, they each got their own job.
In 1956 Billy went to serve in the Army two years; over one year was spent in Germany with the paratroopers. When he returned home, he went to work for A&P Meats and is still withthem, and in 1959 was married to Sandra Sheffer of Wauseon. They have one daughter, Melissa, and a son, Billy, Jr.
Johnny first worked as a hired man with Campbell's Soup six years and now is with Surface Combustion in Toledo and has been there for nine years. He married Carrol Christy, Liberty Center, and they have three children: Frank Lee, Susan, and Debrah.
Barbara Jean went to Davis Business School and was secretary at the 50 Plus 5 at West Unity, and met and married Harry Hicks, Jr. of Montpelier. They have two children, Dawn and Harry
Tony went to Campbell Soup Co. and got his job when he finished high school and has been there six years. He married Karen K. Dalton of Hart, West Virginia, and they have two children: David and Stacy Lynn.
Maisie, while all this was going on, kept the house going and helped outside too. In early years she raised chickens and milk cows. But that was long ago when the children were smaller. She started working at the old Lippincot Tomato Plant when John was one year old, seasonal help in 1941 and kept it up until 1954. She started work full time at Perfection Finishing Co. in Wauseon until 1963 when she was not able to work because of poor health.
The children all attended and graduated from Napoleon High School. The family attended Sharon Church and Sunday School and all were church members except Clarence.
Maisie, Billy, and Johnny are all members of Harrison Grange 151.
Maisie belongs to the Daughters of America. Billy is still in the National Guard and Eagles. Johnny belongs to the Masons and the Moose Lodge. Barbara is active in Mothers' Club at school in Montpelier.
It won't be long until Clarence will be retiring; he gave up farming as factory and farming was too much. After he retires, he plans on gardening and fishing.
