Leonard Cavanaugh, son of James and Mary (Carrol) Cavanaugh, was born June 18, 1901, in Marion Township, Henry County. During his childhood days, he attended the Collins School.
He was united in marriage to Anna Zimmerman, daughter of John and Katherine (Dunzer) Zimmerman. Anna was born March 27, 1901, in South Richland Township, Defiance County. Leonard and Anna were married Oct. 14, 1926, at St. John's Catholic Church, Defiance. They live near Hamler and have been members of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
To this union was born Lawrence Joseph Cavanaugh on Aug. 11, 1931, in Bartlow Twp. He graduated from Jewell High School in 1950 and now farms on the home farm in Bartlow Twp. He married Anna Laurie Delarber of Defiance County and they are the parents of Carolyn Sue (July 15, 1962), Paul Joseph (Aug. 15, 1963), Terrence Edward (Jan. 18, 1965), and Kevin James (June 23, 1966).
Catherine Mary Cavanaugh was born May 18, 1933. She graduated from Jewell High School in 1951 and entered Mercy School of Nursing, graduating in 1954. She attended the University of Dayton and graduated in 1957, then returned to Mercy Hospital as an instructor. She married John Mekus and they are the parents of: John Lawrence (June 13, 1960), David Nolan (Aug. 4, 1961), and Thomas Owen (Dec. 5, 1964). They reside in Bowling Green.
Clarice Ann Cavanaugh was born Aug. 30, 1936. She graduated from Deshler High School in 1954 and entered x-ray training at St. Vincent's Hospital. Later, she married James O. Gibbons and they live in Toledo. They are the parents of: Kathleen Ann (Jan. 26, 1963), Colleen Marie (March 23, 1965), and James Patrick (Oct. 3, 1969).
