Elmer Brinkman, youngest son of John W. Brinkman and Anna M. Demland, was born on November 6, 1901, in the house where he resides at present. It is one and one-half miles west of Pleasant Bend and one-half north on Road B1. He was a farmer (retired). On May 7, 1931, he married Carmen V. Rettig who was the eldest daughter of E. M. Rettig (Mell) and Clara I. Franz. She taught in rural schools - Dirr in Pleasant Township and Deigle in Monroe Township. To this union three children were born: Paul, Rosanna, and Richard.
Paul married Dee McDonald of Bryan in 1958. They have one son, Shawn, born December 2, 1958, and Ginger born January 23, 1967. Paul is assistant manager of the Rex Drug Store in Lantana Shopping Center and they reside in Lake Worth, Florida.
Rosanna married Merle Kagy on May 30, 1965. He is a teacher in the Tiffin School System. Rosanna taught previous to her marriage and at present is doing substitute teaching. Christopher was born September 13, 1966. Amy Eileen was born March 20, 1969. In due time Rosanna expects to return to teaching again.
Richard, the youngest in the family, lives at Pleasant Bend, Ohio. He married Nancy Rose Okuly on April 25, 1970. Tammy Rose was born August 5, 1971, and David William on July 21, 1972.
