Nichalas Boggs, died 1803/04, and wife, Barbara Mayer Boggs, lived near Palmerton, Pennsylvania. It appears that Nichalas and Barbara had four children: Nicholas, Jr., Heinrich, Catherine and Eva. Tradition has it that Nicholas, Jr. had one brother, a hunchback, and several sisters.
Nicholas Box, Jr. was born on July 4, 1781 and died on December 2, 1836. He married Margretha Bertha Mercom, who was born on June 7, 1786 and died on March 4, 1857. He served in the War of 1812, from Pennsylvania. Nicholas and Margretha had seven children, one of which was Jacob Box. Nicholas Box, Jr. was in the process of selling his farm to move when he became ill and died nine days later of typhoid fever.
Jacob Box migrated to Ohio. His wife, Katherine Burkett Box, was a native of Pennsylvania. They were Lutherans and he was a Republican. Their children were: William, Frank, Daniel W., Susin, Emma, Eva, and Mary Box.
Daniel Wesley Box married Jennie Bugh and they lived in Lucas County, Ohio. They had six children: Fred W., Jessie J., May, Jennie, Charles, and J. Chester. J. Chester and his wife, Margaret, live on County Line Road in Henry County, Ohio.
Fred W. Box married Maggie Biggins. Maggie was born in Henry County on February 20, 1876. After their marriage, they farmed for seven years as a renter along the Maumee River. Then they bought sixty acres in section 35 of Washington Township, in Henry County, and thirty-five adjoining acres in Providence Township, Lucas County, Ohio. Fred and Maggie Box had five children: Cyril, who died in infancy, Herbert, born July 17, 1904 and died August 21, 1966, Bernard, born March 17, 1909, and died in October, 1978, Cleo W., born May 3, 1912, and James D., born April 24, 1916. Bernard, Cleo, and James live in Henry County, Ohio.
Bernard and his wife, Helen, lived in the Fred W. Box homestead and Helen lives there since Bernard's death. Bernard was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Alva N. Sidle Post ,F 232, American Legion. Helen is a charter member of the post's auxiliary. Bernard was a member of the masonic fraternity and both Bernard and Helen belonged to the Eastern Star. Bernard was a farmer and retired from Saylor Products of Grand Rapids, Ohio. Bernard had no issue. Helen has children from her first marriage.
Cleo and Evelyn Mettert Box live on the County Line Road. Cleo is a veteran of World War II and a member of the Alva N. Sidle Post, American Legion and Evelyn is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Cleo is a Mason, and both belong to the Eastern Star. Cleo was a member of the Grand Rapids School Board for twelve years. He was an assistant cashier at the Grand Rapids Banking Company until his retirement. Cleo and Evelyn have two sons: Larry and Lee. Larry and Lynette Martin Box live in Liberty Center, Ohio, with their children, Tiffany and Janelle. Larry drives truck for United Trucking Company. Larry is a member of the American Legion and the Masons. Lynette is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and both are members of the Eastern Star. Lee and Sharron Turner Box live in LaGrange, Indiana, and have two daughters, Amy and Leesa. Lee is a supervisor at Campbell Soup Company mushroom plant near LaGrange. Sharron is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star, and Lee is a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Fraternity, and the Eastern Star. He is Worthy Master of the Grand Rapids Masonic Lodge this year.
James D. and Katherine Bauman Box live on County Road T. James is a retired school bus driver for the Otsego School district and a farmer. Katherine works for Gould, Inc. in Napoleon, Ohio. They are members of the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids. James is a Mason and both James and Katherine belong to the Eastern Star. Katherine is a member of the Rebekka Lodge. James and Katherine have one son, Randy Box. Randy married Gloria Heitzman, of Grand Rapids, Ohio. Randy graduated from the University of Toledo, and is manager-pharmacist at the Gilbert and Herr Drugs in Liberty Center, Ohio. Gloria graduated from Bowling Green State University, where she majored in Elementary Education and Library Science. Randy is a member of the Liberty Center Rotary and Business men and women's clubs. They are members of the First Presbyterian Church, Grand Rapids, Ohio. Their daughters are Alison and Leslie. The family live near Grand Rapids, Ohio.
