George Bowers

George Bowers and Catharine Gantz were married in Licking County, Ohio, then came to Henry County where they settled in 1835. There were no houses in Napoleon when they came, nor any neighbors eight miles to the north. George was the son of Samuel and Mary Bowers; and Catharine was the daughter of George and Dorcas Gantz.

George and Catharine Bowers had the following children: Titus, George, Mary, David, Eliza, Samuel, Mary, Sarah, Orpha and Hattie who married George Hiland.

George Bowers Jr. was born in 1828 in Licking County and was brought by his parents to Henry County. He married Margaret Ellis, daughter of M. and Delilah Ellis, who was born in Seneca County in 1841. They were married in Henry County in 1858.

George and Margaret Ellis Bowers had six children: Clara, Flora, Annie, Charles, Samuel and Lilly May.
