Nellie Adeline Rayle, 94, of Deshler and formerly of Belmore, died Friday at Birchhaven Village, Findlay.
Born July 24, 1912, in Leipsic she was the daughter of Joseph F. and Margaret Ellen (Wagner) Burwell. On June 26, 1927, she married John Owen Rayle, who preceded her in death on March 3, 1968.
She retired from the former Metal Forge Co. of Deshler in 1973. She previously worked at Koppenhofer Brothers Poultry of Deshler and Food Packaging of McComb. She was a member of Deshler United Methodist Church and the oldest living member of the former Belmore EUB Church.
She was a member of Deshler and McClure Senior Citizens and the former Belmore Mothers Club and was formerly active with the Belmore Village Election Board.
She is survived by four daughters, Emma Jean Hoops and Judith Hoops, both of Deshler, Connie Hoops of Leipsic and Brenda Smith of Defiance; four sons, Eugene (Kathy) of Ottawa, Owen 'Bob' (Betty) of Belmore, Archie of Clarksville, Tenn., and William (Margaret) of Findlay; 37 grandchildren; 93 great-grandchildren; and 58 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Louise Rayle and Carol Joyce Requena; two sons, Ralph and Sidney; three sisters, Mary Dunbar, Ethel Miller and Martha Burwell; five brothers, John, Isaac, Clifford, Jake and Bill Burwell; five grahdchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Deshler United Methodist Church, Pastor Mary Bushong officiating. Interment will follow at West Belmore Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday and 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Kidney Foundation, Deshler United Methodist Church, Birchhaven Village, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
