Herald Y. Yenser, 74, Route 1 was dead on arrival at Defiance Hospital at noon Friday. He was born in Paulding County on Feb. 14, 1917, the son of Hays and Eva (McMillen). In 1941, he married Pauline Frederick Shock, who survives. He was a farmer and also hauled and sold farm products. He was a member of Defiance Church of the Brethren and Tuendawie Masonic Lodge 195 of Defiance. Also surviving are a son Rev. Herald (Gene), Oakwood; three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Adelia Ann) Sorge of West Lafayette, Ind., Mrs. Jerry (Sandra) Brightbill of Tonasket, Wash., and Mrs. Ronald (Paula) Howell, Lafayette, Ind., four sisters, Mrs. Theodore (Mildred) Thompson of Archbold, Mrs. Fred (Beatrice) McLennan of St. Joe., Ind., and Mrs. Ike (Merrill) Short and Mrs. Charles (Leona) Frederick, both of Defiance; a brother, Emery of Defiance; and 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a brother, Wilbur and three sisters, Vera Simendinger, Nellie Price, and Fay Link. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday in Defiance Church of the Brethren, Rev. John Grim officiated. Burial was in the Riverview Memorial Gardens.
