Rollie L. Young, 78, formerly of this community, recently passed away at the McCray Memorial Hospital in Kendallville, Indiana. He had been in poor health for nearly a year and had been in the hospital about three weeks.
Born in Shelby County, Ohio, the son of James L. and Emma Deal Young, Rollie came to Henry County with his parents in 1888. They moved to a farm 2 1/2 miles north of Deshler. He attended the Zettle School. In 1909 he and the family moved to Noble County, Indiana, near Albion. Rollie was known as one of the most expert farmers in that community.
In March 1914 he married Eva Slabaugh who survives. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this year.
A twin sister, Ollie (Mrs. L. L. Thomas) of Deshler, preceded him in death in 1916. Two brothers survive: Homer L. of Kendallville, Indiana, and James L. of Glenview, Illinois.
Services were conducted at the Wawaka, Indiana Church of the Brethren. Interment was at Orange Cemetery near Brimfield, Indiana.
