L. Young Passes at Toledo Home
Former Deshler Boy Dies After Several Years of Illness
Charles Lesley Young, son of Howard and Clara Young, was born October 1st, 1898 at Auburn, Indiana. At the age of four he moved with his parents to Deshler, Ohio. He received his education in the Deshler Schools, graduating from same in 1916. He also took a business course in Lima Business College, afterwards taking up Library work and becoming a very efficient Librarian of the Deshler Community and School Library where he worked for about three years, until his failing health forced him to resign. He was a patient sufferer for several years. At he age of 16 he united with the Methodist Church and was a faithful member, although he could not attend the services. He passed away on September 18, 1930 aged 31 years, 11 months and 17 days. He leaves to mourn his loss his mother, Mrs. Clara Young, one sister, Mrs. Ralph LaRue and his little niece, Jo Ann, all of 1543 Woodland Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, besides a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers and an infant sister.
"His motto was: 'Life is made up, not of great sacrifices or duties, but of little things in which smiles and kindness and small obligations given habitually are what win and preserve the heart and secure comfort.'
"His favorite poem was 'Crossing The Bar' by Tennyson."
