Jess Wagner, 91, of McClure, died Nov. 28 in Eustis, Fla. He was born on Sept 16, 1896, in Napoleon to Theodore and Amanda (Wolf) Wagner. He married Corrine myers on March 12, 1928, and she died March 22, 1979. In Nov. 1981, he married, he married Mildred Thrappe Orwig and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert of Napoleon; three daughters, Shirley Kerwin, of Napoleon and Betty Wolfe and Joyce Sworden, both of McClure; a sister, Inez Heller of Whitehouse; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Elmer, Bert and Floyd and a sister, Gladys Box. Wagner was a farmer, and owned Wagner's Trailer Court. He was formerly a Farmers State Bank director, a Damascus Township trustee, and a Henry County School Board member. A Navy veteran of World War I, he was a member of the McClure American Legion. Services were in Wright Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, with the Rev. Ken Hagen officiating. Interment was to be in Hockman Cemetery near McClure.
