Austin Williamson, 24, oil worker near Findlay, had for several weeks been getting what he considered easy money in hold-ups on a lonely road out of Findlay. Deputy Groves and Deputy Williford and families toured the road one evening in order to catch the bandit. The bandit showed up, gun in hand and Deputy Groves handed him an empty pocketbook and a bullet from his revolver at the same time. Austin Williamson died as a result of the officer's accurate aim.
