Helen Barton, daughter of John Payne and Flavia Louise Barton, was born on Mary 4, 1874, in Leipsic, Ohio, and died November 19, 1927, aged 53 years, 6 months and 15 days. Her early schooling was in Leipsic, but she also was a student in the Deshler schools, her parents being residents here for several years. In her girlhood days she became interested in the millinery business here and after serving her apprenticeship, opened a store here, which she successfully conducted for several years.
On October 3, 1900 she was united in marriage with Frank J. House, and to this union one daughter, Mary Elizabeth, was born. There are left to mourn their loss, besides the husband, a daughter, the aged mother, four brothers -- W. N. Barton, Detroit; J. R. Barton, Cleveland; Robert B. Barton, Chicago; and Harold B. Barton of Leipsic. Two sisters -- Mrs. S. D. Dempsey, of Toledo and Mrs. Wilson Fry of Findlay.
Services were conducted from the Methodist Episcopal church at one o'clock, Monday, in charge of Rev. T. H. Otwell of Rossford, a former pastor, assisted by Rev. C. W. Baltzell. Burial was made in Woodlawn cemetery.
