A funeral Mass for Leonard "Burch" Giesige, 67, of New Bavaria, was said Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Bavaria with the Revs. Herman Scherger and George Wenzinger officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. McCrate-Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, was the setting for the rosary. Eagles. Elks and Knights of Columbus services will be on Monday. Giesige died Jan. 31 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born Nov. 6, 1919, in New Bavaria to Urban and Anna Marie (Thome) Giesige. He married Ann Laws on June 29, 1946, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Richard of Columbus and Leonard of Hamler; three daughters; Mrs. Dennis (Beth) Steffan of Leipsic, Mrs. Don (Sue) LaVoy of Toledo, and Mrs. Craig (Lori) Diem of Sandusky; eight grandchildren; a brother, Robert of Shelby; and a sister, Mary Reber of Shelby. Giesige was a farmer and a former maintenance man at Marathon Oil Co., Findlay. he was a former Marion Township trustee. He was a member of the Eagles, Ottawa; VFW, New Bavaria; Elks, Napoleon; Ottawa K of C; and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria.
