Gary L. Spence, 17, of 1600 Sherry St. was found dead as a result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Sunday in a field on Township Road 25 near Arlington, according to the Hancock County Sheriff's Department. He was born July 25, 1974, in Bowling Green to James L. and Karla (Phillips) Spence. His father survives in Findlay. His stepfather and mother, John M. and Karla Laytart, both survive in Findlay. The youth was a tenth grade student at Arlington High School. Also surviving area paternal grandmother, Mrs. Richard (Lola) Wilson, Deshler; a stepgrandmother, Frances Laytart, Findlay; three brothers, Jamie S., Rusty L. and Mark L. all of Findlay; and a stepbrother, Michael A. Laytart of Findlay. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, the Rev. Mark Snavely officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
