George H. Schwiebert, 70, of Hamler died April 15 in the Community Hospital, Bryan. Mr. Schwiebert was born in Hamler on May 3, 1911. He was the son of Ferdinand and Maria (Meyer) Schwiebert. On Nov. 24, 1935, he married Emilie J. Drewes, who died March 21, 1945. He then married Pauline M. Lange on April 8, 1947, and she survives. A retired farmer, he was also a former employee and past director of the Hamler Elevator as well as operator of a sawmill near the village for a number of years. Mr. Schwiebert was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, rural Hamler, its Men of the Church, and had formerly served on the church council. Also surviving are a son, William of rural Hamler; daughters Arlene Turner, of Chino Hills, Calif.; Donna Crossland and Shirley Schroeder both of rural Hamler, and Verlinda Schantz of Wauseon; brothers Albert of Eau Claire, Wis., and Arnold and Paul, both of rural Hamler; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Mary Lou Joseph and a son, Marvin. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hope Lutheran Church, Rev. Norman Norden officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
