A memorial service for Violet I. Sterling-Pinkerton, 73, of Riley Street, Bluffton, was held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Bluffton, the Revs. Michael Wicks and Keith Martin officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay. Mrs. Pinkerton died Saturday afternoon at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 24, 1916 in Monroe, Mich., to the Rev. Frank and Mary (Hagel) Smith. She married Lyndus Sterling on May 13, 1939 and he died Jan. 6, 1971. She then married Leland Pinkerton on April 4, 1976 and he died March 9, 1978. Surviving are two sons, larry Sterling of Crawfordsville, Ind.; Robert Sterling of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Marilyn) Edwards of Bluffton, and Mrs. Terry (Carolyn) Dahma of Findlay and 11 grandchildren. Mrs. Pinkerton was employed at the Deshler Flag newspaper and Thatcher Insurance, Deshler. She was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Mesa. Ariz. and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Bluffton.
