Obituary: Vera Irene Swihart, 81, of Deshler, died Tuesday, July 14, in Henry County Hospital. She was born Sept. 3, 1916, In Deshler, the daughter of Harry and Vergie (Brown) Stiles. On Sept. 29, 1937, she married G. Blinn Swihart, who died Sept. 1, 1981. She was a member of the Zion Church of God of Hamler and its Ladies Aid, the Leipsic Grange and the Rebeccah Lodge, of Deshler. She was a laborer at Metal Forge in Deshler for 11 years, retiring in 1980. She is survived by her sisters, Doris Payne, of Deshler. and Ina Kennedy, of Fort Wayne, Ind. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel Moses, Elsie Hillard, Mildred Stiles, and Margaret Stiles, and brothers, Glen Stiles and Lawrence Stiles. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 17, at 11 a.m. at Zion Church of God, Hamler, with the Pastors James Tussing and Melvin Summy officiating. Interment was in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, of Leipsic. The family suggests memorials be made to the church memorial fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
