Obituary: Irene E. Vance, 79, Napoleon died Aug. 28 in St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, of injuries sustained when she was hit by a car on Rt. 424 in Napoleon. She was born Feb. 9, 1908, in Henry County to Dan and Glee (Stevens) Sickmiller. She married Lawrence Vance on Nov. 21, 1926, and he died Feb. 20, 1980. She is survived by two sons, Ralph of Wauseon and Larry of Temperance, Mich.; five daughters, Helen Orthwein and Esther Smith both of Napoleon, viola Strayer of Swanton, Donna Stemen of Wauseon, and Marjorie FAckler of Hamler; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph, Robert and Arthur Sickmiller; and three sisters: Opal Pittman of Bucyrus, Iona Heater of Paulding, and Margaret Miller of Napoleon. Mrs. Vance was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon and was a member of the Napoleon Senior Center. Funeral services were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon, with interment in Hoy Cemetery. Arrangements were by Wesche Funeral Home.
