Funeral services for Ethel Himes, 60, of Kidron, Ohio, were held Feb. 25 at Salem Mennonite Church near Kidron with the Rev. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Himes died Feb. 22 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born 1927 near Kidron to Adam and Lydia (Sprunger) Amstutz. She married Harley Himes on Dec. 26, 1948 and he survives. Also surviving are a son, Herb of Dalton; three daughters, Mrs. Tad (Vivienne) Hobert of Dayton, Mrs. Gene (Patricia) Hartzler of Smithville, and Mrs. Jerry (Ellie) Hartzler, Marshallville; nine grandchildren; and three sisters, Rose Marie Diller of Orville, Mrs. Robert (Celia) Blough of Deshler, and Mrs. Thomas (Effie) Badertscher of Dalton. Mrs. Himes taught for 11 years at Chester Elementary School in Wayne county and Kidron Elementary School. She graduated in 1945 from Dalton High School near Kidron , and in 1949 earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Ashland college. Arrangements were handled by Auble Funeral Home, Orville.
