Melvin L. Steffen, 72, of South Keyser Street, Deshler, died Monday morning at his residence. He was born Feb. 10, 1919 in Garrett, Ind. to Roma and Goldie (Lung) Steffen. He married Hilda L. Meyers in March 1941, and she died in January 1989. Mr. Steffen retired in 1976 as a section foreman for B & O Railroad. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler. Surviving is a brother, John "Herm" of Ottawa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Snyder-Bloor Funeral Home, Deshler, the Rev. Mark Bauer officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
