Jason C. Stearns, 89, of 1900 Sands Road, Deshler, died Oct. 22 at Oak Grove Nursing Home, Deshler. He was born Oct. 8, 1902, in Wood County to Charles and Dora (Stevens) Stearns. He married Lula Hammersmith on Nov. 24, 1927, and she survives. Mr. Stearns was a retired farmer. Also surviving are his daughter, Mrs. George R. (Eileen A.) Tyrell of Bowling Green; sons, Kenneth L. of Leipsic; Paul J., of Defiance, Merlin W., of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Wayne E. of West Mansfield; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucy Lutz of Fort Myers, Fla.,and half brother, Clarence Unkart, of Fort Myers, Fla. Mr. Stearns was preceded in death by his son, B. Dale; half sister, Martha Crawford and half brother, Clarence Unkart of Fort Myers, Fla. Funeral services were held on Oct. 25 in the Smith-Crates Funeral Home, North Baltimore. The Rev. Elgene R. Nichols officiated. Burial was in Weston Cemetery.
