Alfred W. Schwiebert, 83, Hamler, died in Oak Grove Nursing Home, Deshler. He had been a lifelong area resident. Born August 11, 1897, in Bartlow Township, he was the son of Eugin and Emma (Freytag) Schwiebert. He married Frieda Gerken in 1927, and she preceded him in death in 1979. Mr. Schwiebert was a retired farmer and had worked as a repairman for the Deshler Telephone Company. A member of Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler, he was past president and secretary of the Northwestern Ohio Lutheran Brotherhood of the American Lutheran Church during the 1950s and 1960s. Surviving are two sons Eugin A., of Napoleon, and Lowell of Hamler; two brothers Earnest of Gainesville, Fla., and Ted of Deshler; four sisters, Mrs. Agatha Gilmore of Waterville, Emily Schwiebert of Deshler, Mrs. Curtis (Mary) Smith of Fort Myers, Fla., and Mrs. Dwain (Lydia) Burke of Bellevue; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Jeff, Paul and Fred, and two sisters. Emma Schwiebert and Pauline Smith, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler, the Rev. Norman Norden officiating. Interment was in Bartlow Township Cemetery.
