John C. Rudolph, 88, of Greeley, Colo., died Saturday in Bonnell, Colo. Born in Richfield Township of Henry County on June 24, 1903, he was the son of William S. and Mary Elizabeth (Kistner) Rudolph. On Aug. 1, 1926, he married Mabel Thursten, and she survives. Mr. Rudolph spent 39 years as a teacher and administrator, beginning his career in the same one-room schoolhouse where he received his instruction as a child. He held teaching and administrative positions with the former Westhope High School and while at Holgate Public Schools, the high school baseball team he coached won the state championship. Mr. Rudolph also owned and operated a farm implement business in Deshler for several years. He was a member of Holgate's Masonic Lodge and Lions Club, BGSU honoraries, and had formerly served as a Holgate Council member. He was also a member of the Greeley Methodist Church. Also surviving are a son, Dr. Merritt Rudolph of Englewood, Colo.; daughters, Jean Collin of Van Nuys, Calif.; and Nelda Mickens of Greeley; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers. Services were held Tuesday morning in the Adamson Mortuary's Memorial Chapel at Greeley. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.
