Valois W. Giesige Sr., 75, of New Bavaria died May 30 in Defiance Hospital. Born in Henry County on Oct. 8, 1914, he was the son of William and Mary (Rothman) Giesige. On March 23, 1936, he married Loretta Ritz, and she survives. Over the years, he had been engaged in farming, sold seed for 50 years with the Gutwein Seed Co., and had been employed by Campbell Soup Co. and Electrolite in Napoleon. Mr. Giesige was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria, the Ottawas K of C and was a social member of the New Bavaria V.F.W. Also surviving are his sons, Paul of Kalida; Ronald of Sherwood; Leo and Steven, both of Holgate; Nelson and Valois Jr., both of Defiance; and Rodney of New Bavaria; daughters, Bernadette Jones and Mary Mancas, both of New Bavaria, and Bernadine Haselman and Sandy Noirt both of Leipsic; 55 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. he was preceded in death by a son, Norman. Services were held in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father George Wensinger officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. The McCrate-Love Funeral Home of Ottawa handled arrangements.
