Obituary: Mildred 'Millie' Powell, 91, of Deshler, died Thursday. Feb. 15, 2007, in the Oak Grove Healthcare Center, in Deshler. She was born April 8, 1915, to Roy D. and Esme C. (Rayle) Rutter. On Dec. 26, 1941, she married Dewey Powell in Deshler, and he died May 31, 1990. Mrs. Powell was a 1933 graduate of Deshler High School. During the 1960s, she was a sales lady for the Wil-Knit Hosiery Company and won a car with her sales. She was a member of Deshler United Methodist Church and the Bartlow Township Historical Society, and participated in many off-Broadway productions, choirs, and plays. She was a pianist and singer. Surviving are her sons, James (Marjorie), of Batesville, IN, and Stephen (Mary), of Miller City, OH; daughter, Beth Powell, of Deshler; sisters, Eileen (Wayne) Phillips, of Deshler. and Lynne (Robert) Line, of Elida, OH; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
