Robert L. Rutter, 70, of Deshler, died Tuesday evening at Toledo Hospital. Born in Deshler on April 27, 1921, he was the son of Roy and Esma (Rayle) Rutter. On Dec. 18, 1943, he married Jean Wells, who preceded him in death on March 16, 1986. He then married Sandra K. Balser, and she survives. Mr. Rutter retired in 1983 from Libbey-Owens Ford, Toledo. He was a member of the Deshler United Methodist Church and Napoleon's DAV and V.F.W. He was a World War II Army veteran. Also surviving are sons, Robert, Jr. of Holland, Oh., and William of Deshler; daughters, Debra Busch of Hamler, and Cindy Knepley of Holgate; stepson Barry Rosebrook of Deshler; stepdaughters, Amy Westrick and Janese Rosebrook both of Deshler; brothers Herbert, Donald and Paul, all of Deshler; sisters Mildred Powell and Eileen Phillips both of Deshler; Carol Myers of Garrett, Ind., and Lynn Line of Elida, Oh.; nine grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren. Also preceding him in death were a son, Philip, in 1968; brother Clifford in 1965 and grandson, Patrick Busch, in 1988. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the Deshler United Methodist Church, Rev. Barry Weyant officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
