Eileen Phillips, 87, of Deshler, Ohio, died Tuesday morning, March 18, 2014, at The Meadows of Leipsic. She was born on April 10, 1926, in Deshler, Ohio, to the late Roy D. and Esme C. (Rayle) Rutter. On Jan. 1, 1950 she married Wayne F. Phillips at Deshler United Methodist (Church.

Eileen was a 1944 graduate of Deshler High School. She managed the home office of Phillips Sohio when her husband first operated the business in Deshler. She also worked for the former Charles Company Store and Staver Five and Dime, both of Deshler. She was a faithful member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church for over 71 years. She devoted her time to her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. They will miss her wonderful cooking, especially her apple pies.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wayne; three children, Wayne (Denise) Phillips, Jr., Ottawa, Ohio; Paul (Karen) Phillips, Deshler and Martha (John Cayton) Phillips, Napoleon, Ohio; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and sister, Lynne (Robert) Line, Elida, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Herbert, Clifford, Edward, Robert, Paul '“Porky” and Donald “Buzz” Rutter; and two sisters, Carol Myers and Mildred “Millie” Powell.
