Edna M. Panning, 86, of Hamler died Jan. 30 in the Northcrest Nursing Home, Napoleon. She was born in Hamler of Dec. 6, 1903 to Charles and Sophia (Meyer). She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Lorene and Loretta, and brothers Julius, Arthur and Melvin. Surviving are brothers Norbert, Robert and Dr. Walter Panning all of Orlando, Fl. and several nieces and nephews. Miss Panning was a graduate of Defiance College and taught in the Hamler school system 41 years, retiring in 1964. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Hamler Wide-A-Wake Club, and St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Hamler where she had formerly served as organist and choir director. Services were held Feb. 2 in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Brodbeck officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
