He became ill on an outing on the Maumee River with the Girl and Boy Scouts. After a few days sickness, appendicitis developed. He was taken to the Lima Hospital where he underwent an appendix operation. He underwent a second operation but still improvement did not come. He died Friday evening, September 21.
