Funeral services for Wilton "Bill" Hammer, 66, of 235 Blaine St., Hamler, were held Wednesday at St.Paul's Catholic Church in Hamler with the Rev. Francisco Caballero officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Dubbs-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, was in charge of arrangements. Hammer died March 29 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He was born Dec. 20, 1920, in Jewell to Frederick and Edith (Palmer) Hammer. He married Jean Erford on May 14, 1949 and she survives. Also surviving are a son Greg of Hamler; two daughters, Mrs. Lee (lana) Shingledecker of Defiance and Mrs. Mike (Lisa) Marshall of Byron Center, Mich.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Ken, of Lagrange, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. Irvin (Frances) Flory of Hamler. Hammer was retired after 27 years as water commissioner in Hamler. He was owner of Hammer Restaurant in Hamler for 11 years. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Hamler American Legion, Ottawa Knights of Columbus, and St. Paul's Catholic Church in Hamler.
